On May 19, 2016, at 6:00pm, the next "Third Thursday" public forum at WNMU's Miller Library will feature Democratic candidates discussing the "The Cost of the Martinez Administration on New Mexico."
The panel will include Senator Howie Morales, candidates Mary Hotvedt and Karen Canaday Whitlock (House District 38), Rudy Martinez (District 39), and DA candidates Francesca Estevez (current DA) and Michael Renteria. They will critique the record of Gov. Susana Martinez and her Republican supporters, and explain how they would attempt to change course to better represent Grant County residents.
Dr. Becky Brandsberg-Herrera of WNMUs Department of Social Work will moderate the discussion.
"Once again, we are proud to be able to sponsor a forum that will inform voters about the choices they face in the June 7 primary election, and in the general election to come," said Grant County Democratic Party chairperson Frances Vasquez. "Gov. Martinez's administration has been bad for New Mexicans in many ways, and we want to make sure voters are informed about the issues and how much the two parties differ. Voting makes a real difference, and we urge all eligible voters to make their voices heard in the June 7 primary, and again in November."
As usual, this "Third Thursday" forum is sponsored by the Grant County Democratic Party, and WNMU's Miller Library and MEChA student organization. Everyone is invited to come hear from the candidates, stay to converse with them after the panel, and enjoy the refreshments served following the forum.
